[DISCUSSION] Does the mainstream, or the youth still ''care'' about Rappers, and what they have to say?
Im excluding the top 10s who have built a narrative, a story and a real fanbase over the course of their careers.
Hiphop and in general, the music industry seems to be slowing a bit, sales-wise also. When it comes to HH, and the new generation and rappers, however, I feel like the ''care'' is gone
The new generation isn't exactly creating or speaking on narratives that relate to the current youth, so the old guys are still leading which isn't as healthy.
A new sound but the skill levels are much lower, and even artists with some buzz before seem to be underselling, undermarketed, and under ''cared'' about.
Like Jack Harlow came out, known guy, sold around 29K the first week - to me its irrelevant whether the album was good or not, it would not have changed sales that much, its just I have a ''Cool, but I dont really care or even bother" feeling that persists with most if not all releases. Its not just Jack for me, its everyone
It could simply be the ''marketing machine'' that put so many millions into forcing us to care, has been put on halt for now.
