why pharrell isn't releasing music on streaming

so ive just been thinking about pharrells recent music releases and listening to that album virginia again and one thing that i cant quite understand is why as a huge artists he wouldnt just release it on spotify like everyone else. theres no roll out, theres no promo, it kind of just feels like a little love letter to his hometown, kind of intimate and personal and nothing to do with virality. i know hes always been ahead of the curve, im curious what hes thinking by giving fans direct access to the music
