Slick Rick at Ophelia's Electric Soapbox

MC Ricky D delivered the goods..

The opening acts did not. Lane-O was pretty good.. Hadn't heard him before, but good songs, great stage presence.. They could have let him open the whole show. But instead he left after about 5 songs and they brought out some clown who looked like the mop-head dude feom MTV Sports. I thought his DJ was bad, but then they brought out some dude to spin some old school hip hop records... Great set list, and horrendous execution. In all, about 90 minutes of barely listenable garbage between Lane-O and when Kaos came out to get Rick's set warmed up. Kaos started off strong, but wrapped up the pregame with Billy Joel, Guns and Roses, and Van Halen... Really got the white gen xers pumped, but it really let the air out for the hip hop fans. I can't believe a legend like Slick Rick came to town and these jerk offs were the best they could come up with. This was my daughter's first time seeing him, and while Rick's set was great (if a little short.. pretty much just the greatest hits), it was hard to get the energy back in the room after 2 hours of weak setup. What a missed opportunity.
