Trap Rap Beats

What’s your number one diss track and why?

I know this thread has been done before, but it’s been awhile. Let’s keep it simple - one track and why. Let the disrespect flow.

For me, it’s Checkmate by Jadakiss aimed at 50. Here’s why:

First of all, this era and the beef between G-Unit in particular was like the best thing to happen to hip hop since the MPC(exaggerating). Everybody in the game was on edge and hungry, and in the mid 2000’s hip hop really needed that. Jada’s always been the guy people put on a track if they want respect in NY, and the fact the 50 came at him for doing what he does was crazy at the time. This cemented 50’s spot as a ballsy troll in his own right, but I digress.

Checkmate is, in my opinion, a flawless track. It sounds effortless and light in terms of Jada’s attitude, but hits hard with every single line. There’s no filler, every bar has an impact - it hits 50 at a musical, business, and street level without having to stray into hyperbole like many diss tracks tend to. As Jada says in his opening, “I don’t wanna sound mad,” and he doesn’t. He sounds like he showed up for another day at the office and just bodied it like it was as simple as scratching his ass. Phenomenal track.

What y’all got?
